My Health Reimagined presents THRIVE, a podcast series challenging harmful narratives that frame Black health as inherently deficient. We understand that persistent health inequities are reinforced not only by access gaps and structural barriers but also by distorted narratives that often do not capture our complete stories that include resilience, dignity, and full humanity.
Black and Brown communities are disproportionately impacted by inequitable health outcomes and are systematically undervalued in shaping the narratives that guide our health systems. My Health Reimagined addresses this imbalance by positioning community storytelling, informative webinars, and community-led research justice initiatives (including book clubs!) as levers for accountability, trust‑building, and systems change.
Our podcast platform is unique in that it centers the lived experiences. Rather than translating expert findings downward, we uplift community perspectives as a starting point for understanding. We do not provide medical advice, instead we aim to empower communities to become more engaged in our health systems. We believe that empowerment begins when communities are provided a safe space to share stories, be heard, and feel validated in hearing stories that represent our lived experiences. We also believe that empowered communities are more likely to engage in policy decisions and clinical research studies in a manner that reflects shared learning and improved accountability from providers, researchers, and policymakers.
